My MCNP Experiences Checklist

Take on new experiences and implement a “no regrets” policy. Make a checklist and enjoy the process my dear mighty eagle.

The world is a big place and I chose Medical Colleges of Northern Philippines because I believe it would prepare me for life in the real world.

As a student, I wanna make my life memmorable during my college years. Before I enter my school I have so many checklist that are away from expectations of others. Meaning a challenging one and I don’t regret any because I made a right choice choosing MCNP to my dream course. Here are some of my checklist:

1. Choose to be different.

Before I decided to enroll to my dream college, I expected that my school is different. It has too many stairs. At first it was hard, tiredable and so exhausted but I survive. The stairs are my challenges and everyday it reminds me on every step I take the Lord will always be with me until success.

2. Get to know your Professors

Some professors are very interesting people. Most of them are toxic but they are not your typical teachers who are there just to teach. They show care to every student and give fair treatment for all. They help you grow untill you find success.

3. Get to know persons who is completely opposite to you

College is a great place to get to know people. I am an introvert person back then and decided to be friends with this crazy people. I learn new things from them and shares a lot in common and one dream. To be a registered nurse in the future.

4. Participate on School Activities

Even if I am not into sports, dance and drama, it’s fun to get together with other students and cheer on your school. There are so many benefits which includes self confidence, self discipline, free yourself to stage fright, make new friends etc.

5. Learn from your Experience

Feeling nervous and somehow you like to pee in your pants because of too much pressure? We always feel that way whenever we had return demonstration. The freshmens thought wearing a scrub suit with OB bag is a big privelege to a student nurse well it is true but with a big responsibility.

6. Entrepreneur Nurse

I tried to do pastillas business and my income become higher than I expected. I come up with this business because I know most medical students like me needs sweets specially when reviewing for upcoming exams and most reasons why they eat sweets is because it is their way to cope to stress.

7. Fall inlove?

Instead of falling inlove, I found myself lying on the floor fall from the stairs. It is not that painful and I can tolerate it somehow and straight myself to clinic. The actions went so fast and they also ran some xray test for my finger afraid that it could be a fracture. The result shows dislocation on my finger and I felt relief knowing I can still write. Well I had to wear the cast in my fingger or a week. I am forever be thankful to my angels who immediately take action. I am so much inspired to them and promise to myself in the near future I will dedicate myself as a nurse to help people at all times.

9. Face Real Life Challenges

At first I have so much difficulties living independently away from my parents. I have to save money and stick to weekly allowance, manage my time wisely as possible, deal with the annoying landlord etc…
But MCNP helps me to motivate more and recommend tips to survive college life.

To Conclude

Remember college life is about new experiences and learning important lessons in life. But it is also important to develop the ‘no regrets’ attitude when something didn’t work out. Good or bad every experience teaches you something important that comes in very handy during later life. Make the best of your college experience. Make friends and create memories that you’ll cherish for a lifetime.

College Life

As a student, a mighty eagle, having to take the stairs means a lot to me. I may get tired everyday but every step that I take is leading me to my goals, the victory I am praying for everyday. They have seen every tear I cried, have heard my complain, have witnessed every achievement I received. Now, i’m still choosing to struggle with it everyday.

This school help me to grow a better person, and to be a good nurse in the future.
My High School Friends

Isang mag-aaral dati ng International School of Asia and the Pacific dito ako nag aral ng Grade 11 hanggang Grade 12 na kung saan nakapag tapos ako at nakakuha ng diploma.
Ngayon nag aaral ako sa kolehiyo ng Medical College of Northern Philippines, at ang kinuha kong kurso ay Nursing 2nd year na.
My Friends in college
Sila yung kasakasama ko pumasok sa school, kasamang kumakain sa canteen, kasama sa lahat ng bagay. My college friends are the most beloved friends that I have in my life and I love them for it.

Duty

Sometimes you just want to catch a break, and you may even go through periods in which you want to quit altogether. When you’re so busy, with so many demands on your time and energy, it’s hard to step back and assess everything that’s going on.

Only when you finally hit the wall with stress or exhaustion do you realize you may be burning the candle at both ends, making you wonder if it’s all worth the effort.Sometimes you can be inspired by fellow students, a teacher or professor, or even your parents. Having a goal for your future can give you a reason for working hard and being disciplined with your school work. But in the quiet of late night when you’re alone with your thoughts and feelings, it’s nice to have some words of wisdom to turn to when you’re uninspired, unmotivated, or overwhelmed. The right time can give you the boost you need to galvanize your energy and charge forward.

It always seems impossible until it’s done.

Estudyante

Kaya natin to.!

para sa hinaharap ay di maghirap.

A Conversation With Myself

Hello I’m Jennyvie A. Ribac I am 20 years of age from Gonzaga Cagayan, Currently studying at the Medical Colleges of Northern Philippines, Alimannao Hills, Peñablanca, Cagayan. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing level 2 student, a proud mighty eagle and a proud MCNPian
I have high expectations of myself. I always have, always will. That will never waver. I always believe in my talent – always have.
My mother is a woman like no other. she gave me life, nurtured me, taught me, dressed me, fought for me, held me, shouted at me, kissed me, but most importantly she loved me unconditionally. There are not enough words to describe just how importantly she loved me unconditionally. There are not enough words to describe just how important my mother is to me and what a powerful influence she continues to be… Mother, I Love You.
There are a lot of things you can discover through nature. It offers you an understanding of the cycle of life and how each creation connects with each other. It teaches you to value even the smallest thing you can find in the world. Nature can show you that life is lovely and exciting.
Nature gives you time for yourself

” dogs are the most amazing creatures they give unconditional love. For me, they are the role model for being alive.”
I love Capturing Kittens
Photographing kittens is a fun and challenging experience. I Always treat my kittens with respect and love. Kittens have sensitive little souls and must be treated with respect.
Riding my bike has done wonders for my stress levels. My job can be stressful at times and I used to feel overwhelmed by it. I have found that going on a bike ride early in the morning allows me to keep my stress under control during my day at work and that riding my bike when I get home is the perfect way to relax.
Cooking is not difficult. Everyone has taste, even if they don’t realize it. Even if you’re not a great chef, there’s nothing to stop you understanding the difference between what tastes good and what doesn’t.

How to Stick Together by Staying Apart: Guidelines/Rules and Preventive Measures in Covid 19

Preparedness planning is essential in order to respond effectively to outbreaks and epidemics. As people seek greater clarity on the risks they can expect to face and how to best minimize them. I prepared guidelines and rules and preventive measures recommended by WHO for us to be always ready and fight against the pandemic novel corona virus.

1. How to Isolate at Home?

Image: REUTERS/ Sergio Perez

If you are returning from an affected area, It is adviced for you to self-isolate for 14 days. Self isolation can help prevent the spread of infections such as novel corona virus (COVID 19).

  • Only allow people who live with you to stay.
  • Separate yourself from other people – try not to be in the same room as other people at the same time.
  • Stay in a well-ventilated room with a window that can be opened.
  • Make sure you tell delivery drivers to leave items outside for collection.
  • Clean toilets and bathrooms regularly.
  • Think about a bathroom rota if a separate bathroom is not available, with the isolated person using the facilities last, before thoroughly cleaning the bathroom themselves.
  • Use separate towels from anyone else in the household.
  • Wash crockery and utensils thoroughly with soap and water; dishwashers may be used to clean crockery and cutlery.

2. Keep your distance but stay close

shutterstock.com

Taking the time to connect with friends and family to strengthen connections will help us get through this pandemic. But in a way we limit ourselves to face-to-face contact with others. Social distancing, also called “physical distancing,” means keeping space between yourself and other people outside of your home. To practice social or physical distancing:

Physical (social) distancing means limiting your physical contact 2 to 6 meters away with other people in order to stop, slow down or contain the spread of Covid19.
  • Stay at least 6 feet (about 2 arms’ length) from other people
  • Do not gather in groups
  • Stay out of crowded places and avoid mass gatherings

3. Proper Use of Face Mask

When you hear about face masks for COVID-19 prevention, it’s generally three types:

  • homemade cloth face mask
  • surgical mask
  • N95 respirator

Let’s explore each of them in a little more detail below.

Homemade face masks

Philstar.com

Homemade face masks only offer a small degree of protection, but they may help prevent the spread of SARS-CoV-2 from asymptomatic people. The DOH recommends using them in public settings, as well as practicing social distancing and proper hygiene.

NOTE: Wash homemade cloth masks after every use. When removing, be careful not to touch your eyes, nose, and mouth. Wash hands immediately after removing.

N95 Respiratiors

bworldonline.com

An N95 respirator is a more tight-fitting face mask. In addition to splashes, sprays, and large droplets, this respirator can also filter out 95 percentTrusted Source of very small particles. This includes viruses and bacteria.

Surgical masks

Philstar.com

Surgical masks are disposable, loose-fitting face masks that cover your nose, mouth, and chin. They’re typically used to:

  • protect the wearer from sprays, splashes, and large-particle droplets
  • prevent the spread of potentially infectious respiratory secretions from the wearer to others

WHEN TO USE FACEMASK

  • If you are healthy, you only need to wear a mask if you are taking care of a person with COVID-19.
  • Wear a mask if you are coughing or sneezing.
  • Masks are effective only when used in combination with frequent hand-cleaning with alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water.
  • If you wear a mask, then you must know how to use it and dispose of it properly.

HOW TO PUT ON, USE, TAKE OFF AND DISPOSE A MASK

  • Before putting on a mask, clean hands with alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water.
  • Cover mouth and nose with mask and make sure there are no gaps between your face and the mask.
  • Avoid touching the mask while using it; if you do, clean your hands with alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water.
  • Replace the mask with a new one as soon as it is damp and do not re-use single-use masks.
  • To remove the mask: remove it from behind (do not touch the front of mask); discard immediately in a closed bin; clean hands with alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water.

4. Proper Handwashing

Hands are the primary carriers of dirt, viruses, and bacteria, as they can come into contact with so many different surfaces throughout the day. Without proper hand washing, it may cause invasion of bacteria entering the body or cross contamination. Unfortunately, many people don’t know how to properly wash their hands or don’t make the necessary effort. So I’m sharing the correct 7 steps which I always do and recommended by DOH.

7 Steps of Handwashing

Step 1: Wet Hands

Wet your hands and apply enough liquid soap to create a good lather. The temperature of the water should be between 35ºC and 45ºC.

Step 2: Rub Palms Together

Rub your hands palm to palm in circular motions. Rotate clockwise and anticlockwise.

Step 3: Rub the Back of Hands

With your fingers linked through the other hand, use your right palm to rub the back of your left hand. Then swap.

Step 4: Interlink Your Fingers

Link your fingers together, facing each other, into clasped hands. Then rub your palms and fingers together.

Step 5: Cup Your Fingers

Cup your fingers together, with your right hand over and your left hand under. With your fingers interlocked, rub the backs of them against your palms. Then swap.

Step 6: Clean the Thumbs

Enclose your right hand around your left thumb and rub as you rotate it, then swap.

Step 7: Rub Palms with Your Fingers

Rub your fingers over your left palm in a circular motion, then swap.

Once you’ve followed these hand washing steps, you should then thoroughly rinse with warm running water and dry with a clean, disposable paper towel.

5. Stay Healthy

bbc.co.uk

A.   Eat healthy

Consume at least five servings of fruits and vegetables every day. Fruits and veggies are loaded with Vitamin C. This vitamin is one of the biggest immune system  boosters of all. In fact, a lack of vitamin C can even make you more prone to getting sick. Foods rich in vitamin C include citrus fruits like oranges, dalandan or “ukban” and lemon. They are also rich in folate (folic acid) and dietary fiber and other antioxidants. Green leafy vegetables like malunggay, camote tops, and alugbati are also good sources of dietary fiber, Vitamins A, C and K, and minerals such as iron and calcium that help boost our immune system along with fruits.

Load yourself with foods rich in Vitamin A. This immune boosting vitamin can be sourced from sweet potatoes, carrots, broccoli, spinach, red bell peppers, eggs, and vitamin A fortified foods like milk and cereals.

Include foods high in Vitamin E in your daily diet. This vitamin improves immune function by neutralizing free radicals. Vegetable oils, nuts such as peanuts, almonds, seeds and green leafy vegetables are rich source of this essential vitamin.

Do not forget Zinc. This mineral helps the immune system and wards off viruses. Zinc can be sourced from meats, shellfish, legumes like beans, seeds. nuts, dairy products, eggs and whole grains.

The WHO has also been reminding the public to be wary of raw food. It is therefore recommended to lessen the consumption raw or uncooked foods and avoiding crowded areas as much as possible to lessen the possibility of acquiring such infections.

B.   Exercise and be physically active

acsm.org

Another healthy reminder is to exercise and be physically active. Exercise and physical activities help maintain the ideal body weight as well as reduces blood sugar and cholesterol level. At least 30 minutes of exercise or an hour of physical activity is recommended daily.

C.   Keep hydrated

emro.who.int

Keeping our body hydrated is one very essential reminder to fight against infections. Fluids in the body needs to be constantly replenished to keep your tissues healthy. So, don’t forget to bring your bottle of water for your daily eight (8) glasses of water.

D.   A good rest is a must

webmd.com

Healthy diet and regular exercise partnered with a well-rested body does not only strengthen the immunity but also improves cardiovascular health, lowers blood pressure, helps control body weight, and protects against a variety of diseases including viral infections. Therefore, remember to have eight hours of sleep every day.
